Demo Guide

The Dungeon Picnic limited-time demo is the only playable slice Lapismine has put on Steam while the product version remains to be announced. Distribution of that demo started on 6 September 2026. It covers the first area, locks you to four characters, and does not carry save data into the later product build. This page is the rules sheet: what is in the build, what is not, how streaming works, where to file bugs, and how Steam Next Fest from 19 October 2026 fits the calendar.

If you have not installed yet, pair this with Getting Started and the system requirements. If you already died in the first area, keep this tab for policy and use combat and exploration for the fight itself.

What the limited demo includes

The demo is tied to Steam demo app 5207170, listed beside the main app 3736800. Expect the first area only, not a condensed tour of every future dungeon. Progress is mapless: you pick events such as enemy nodes that promise Battle + Rewards, and a counter in the 00/10 style tracks the stretch. That is enough to learn shared Mana, Break, ReAct, Star Shards, and wipes without pretending you have seen the finished campaign.

The playable party is fixed at four: Astrologia, Apothecary, Kannagi, and Aries Knight. Astrologia is the comet caster with Hellfire Comet, Blizzard Comet, Binary Star, Unlimited Meteor, Lunar Eclipse, and Stellar Exploit. Apothecary brings Counter Heal, Heal All, and Poison Injection. Kannagi is the fox-eared shrine maiden from a mystical clan, carrying a purification wooden sword against evil gods. Aries Knight matches the maid-knight look in press coverage. Do not expect to swap in Harvester or Samurai as extra demo slots; those pages exist so you can study roster material that already appears on equipment and status screens.

Menus in the demo already show the full loop you will live with: Level Up (Star Shards), Equipment, Set Skill, Item, Status, Formation, and System. Level Up offers random skills and options with costs, including character picks at cost 1 and Starting Mana at cost 3. A wipe still deletes skills and equipment and randomizes the next run’s finds. None of that is a toy version of the economy; it is the same language the upcoming product version has been using in screenshots.

What the demo does not include

It does not include the full game. The product version is upcoming, with the release date still to be announced. It does not include save transfer: whatever you earn, equip, or unlock in the demo stays in the demo. Do not delay a wipe because you hope a later patch will migrate the file. It does not include a cooperative mode; Steam lists Dungeon Picnic as single-player only.

It also does not include a traditional dungeon map, per-character MP bars, or a promise that every roster name on an equipment screen is playable in this build. If a status page shows Harvester at level 1 with HP 30, ATK 10, DEF 0, HEAL 8, SPD 98, Hit 100%, Crit 5%, and Crit DMG 50%, treat that as roster documentation. If Samurai shows a sailor uniform, a katana, and the legendary artifact First Star Fragment (SPD +25%, wearer can act first when battle begins), treat that as equipment-screen knowledge, not a demo unlock checklist.

Streaming, bugs, and how to talk about the build

Streaming and monetization of demo play are allowed. You can show the first area, the four heroines, and the ReAct loop on a channel without waiting for a special key. Credit Lapismine, link the Steam store page, and avoid claiming the product version is finished.

Bug reports belong on Steam discussions for the demo, not in a passing social post that the developer may never see. Include the area, the party, the last skills used, and whether you were on gamepad or keyboard. Partial controller support and a keyboard-only option both exist; say which one you used. The controls guide lists the current face-button map if you need to describe a prompt.

Lapismine is a solo developer. A clear report with a short clip helps more than a joke about a wipe. Official posts also land on X @Lapismine_game, YouTube @Lapismine_game, and Ci-en; those links are grouped on the links page. Some characters were designed with AI assistance and created by the developer; that is an authorship note, not a bug.

Steam Next Fest and how to spend the demo window

Steam Next Fest begins 19 October 2026. Use that festival as a second look at the limited demo, not as a substitute for a release date. If you already played in September, come back for patches, UI tweaks, and a cleaner read on Break timing. If you have not played yet, wishlist first via the wishlist page, confirm hardware, then run one picnic with a notebook: when MN hit zero, which event you picked at 00/10, and whether Counter Heal or a comet would have mattered more.

A focused demo session looks like this. Learn shared MN in two fights. Spend Star Shards only after you know whether you starved for Starting Mana or for a character option. Skip at least one greedy enemy node so you feel the difference on the route. Read party building before the second shard spend, and the party planner if you want a written lineup. Early opinions belong on the character ranking and skills ranking, labeled as demo-era notes rather than finished-game law.

Calendar pages to keep beside this one are demo launch notes, Steam Next Fest, and development. The guides hub routes the rest.

Demo etiquette for your own future save

Play the first area as a laboratory. Write down one combat rule and one route rule per wipe. Do not hoard a perfect kit in the hope it will appear in the product version; it will not transfer. When Next Fest arrives, replay with the same four heroines and look for timing changes in ReAct, not for a migrated inventory. The upcoming full game will be a separate start. The demo’s job is to teach shared mana, Break, and the picnic’s mapless bets before that start exists.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for demo runs, ReAct combat, and party building.

When did the limited demo start, and what is in it?

Distribution started on 6 September 2026. You get the first area and four characters: Astrologia, Apothecary, Kannagi, and Aries Knight. Details and dates are also on demo launch notes.

Does demo save data transfer to the product version?

No. Saves do not carry over. The full game is still to be announced. Play the demo to learn systems, then expect a fresh start whenever the product version arrives. See Getting Started for wipe rules inside the demo itself.

Can I stream the demo or earn money from it?

Yes. Streaming and monetization of demo play are allowed. Link the [Steam store page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3736800/Dungeon_Picnic/) and keep claims limited to the first-area build, not to a finished campaign.

Where should I report bugs?

Use Steam discussions for the demo. Include input method, party, and the last skills used. Prompt names are listed in the controls guide. Follow developer posts via the links hub.

How does Steam Next Fest change the demo?

Steam Next Fest runs from 19 October 2026 and is a second window to play and wishlist, not a release date for the product version. Track it on the Next Fest page and keep a wishlist reminder.
