Dungeon Picnic Rest Screen

A pause to prepare for battle. Skill breakdown and alchemy stay tentative.

Rest Screen Guide

Dungeon Picnic’s rest screen is a pause, not a second dungeon. On 28 February 2026, Lapismine posted an official rest-screen clip on X (@Lapismine_game). The caption introduces the screen, then says you take a short rest and prepare for battle, then adds that skill breakdown and alchemy, among other things, look like they might be possible. This page stays inside that caption. It will not invent recipes, material lists, or guaranteed outputs.

The limited-time demo that started on 6 September 2026 covers the first area with four characters. Demo saves do not transfer into the product version. The full game remains to be announced. Steam lists the campaign as single-player only. Use this article when you are staring at a rest prompt and need to know what is confirmed versus what is still a “looks possible” line.

If the problem is which labeled event to take next, open mapless exploration. If the problem is shared Mana, Break, or cooldowns, open ReAct combat. If the problem is Star Shards, Set Skill, or Formation, open party building and the Level Up guide. Demo length and save rules sit in the limited demo guide.

What the February clip actually showed

The rest screen is sold first as a rest, then as battle preparation. That order is the design pitch. You stop. You get the picnic ready for the next fight. You are not being told that rest is a crafting main quest. The follow-up clause is tentative on purpose: skill breakdown (スキルの分解) and alchemy (錬金術) appear to be possible, with a questioning tone, plus unspecified other actions.

Confirmed from that post:

  • A dedicated rest screen exists in the public teaser.
  • Its stated job is to rest and prepare for battle.
  • Breakdown and alchemy were named as things that look possible.

Not confirmed from that post:

  • Exact buttons in the 6 September 2026 first-area demo.
  • A recipe book.
  • A conversion rate from a named skill into a named item.
  • A promise that every rest restores a fixed HP or MN value.

If your demo rest screen shows only inspection, Formation, Set Skill, or Item, you are still using the screen as battle prep. Missing alchemy is not a reason to invent a brew. Teasers can show more verbs than a first-area slice ships. Treat a missing cauldron as a demo-versus-clip gap until Lapismine prints a list.

Battle prep: MN, cooldowns, and the next node

Battle prep means reading the fight you are about to walk back into. The party shares one Mana (MN) pool. Astrologia spends 1 MN on Hellfire Comet, Blizzard Comet, Binary Star, and Lunar Eclipse, and 2 MN on Unlimited Meteor (cooldown 12, random foes, hits equal to ready skills except cooldown 0, then sets all skills on cooldown). Apothecary spends 2 MN on Counter Heal (cooldown 6, all allies, Heal.ELM, 50% heal) and Heal All, and 1 MN on Poison Injection. Kannagi is the fox-eared shrine maiden with a purification wooden sword; Aries Knight is the maid-knight in press coverage. This page does not invent skill names for those two. They still cost MN and they still sit on cooldowns.

If Meteor just fired, rest is a cooldown pause. If Counter Heal is on 6 and the tank is empty, rest is an MN pause. If Breaks were easy and ReAct extra turns were refunding costs, you may not need a long sit. Hitting a weakness inflicts Break, grants an extra turn, improves mana recovery, lowers costs, and raises crit on the broken foe. Enemies can ReAct too. A rest that ignores leftover Status Effects is a rest you wasted. Inspect before you confirm the next EVENT ENEMY ????? tag.

Unlimited Meteor is a poor reason to skip rest. It wins a fight and then locks the board. The rest screen is where you admit that the next labeled event still has to be paid for with skills that are no longer ready. Hellfire Comet and Blizzard Comet at 1 MN are the workhorses you want available after you stand up. Poison Injection is cheap pressure if the rest restored enough of the shared tank to spend 1 MN without stranding Heal All.

Rest screen versus rest-versus-rush

Mapless exploration already talks about rest versus rush as a route habit: skip a Battle + Rewards node when HP and MN cannot pay the fight. That habit is not the same object as the rest screen. Skipping is a choice among events under a 00/10 style counter. The rest screen is a prep space the developer showed as its own clip.

You can skip and still be unprepared. You can rest and still pick a greedy node. Use both tools. At early 00/10, a short rest after the first Break lesson is cheap tuition. At late 00/10, a rest that protects a kit you already paid for in Star Shards is rational. Across wipes it is meaningless: a wipe deletes skills and equipment and randomizes the next finds. Across the demo-to-product gap it is also meaningless: saves do not carry over.

StarShard fuels Level Up. Aether is a separate route purse. Do not treat either as an alchemy ingredient unless Lapismine prints that rule. Spend shards on the hole from the last fight — Starting Mana at cost 3 when the tank was empty, a character option at cost 1 when Formation was the hole — then rest if the board is still dark. The Level Up guide is the shard sheet; this page is the sit-down before you walk back to 00/10.

Skill breakdown and alchemy, still a question mark

Keep the developer’s tone. Breakdown and alchemy look possible. They are not a published system sheet. Reasonable guesses this wiki will not promote as fact include dismantling a skill you do not want, converting materials during the rest, or both verbs living only in a later build. The February clip is older than the 6 September 2026 demo window. If the first-area pause is quieter than the teaser, play the pause you have.

If breakdown appears in your session, write down the skill you touched and what actually changed. If alchemy appears, write down inputs and outputs you can see. Do not paste a fan recipe into Steam discussions. Official channels are grouped on the links hub. Bug reports belong there too, not in a social reply that claims a missing recipe is a defect.

Harvester (Mercy Scythe, ally-HP spend) and Samurai (First Star Fragment, act first) are roster notes, not extra rest-screen attendants. Do not wait for a grim-reaper brew or a sailor-uniform catalyst. The demo four are the picnic that can actually sit down.

A rest checklist for the first-area demo

  1. Confirm you are in the limited demo: first area, four heroines, no save transfer, single-player, full game TBA.
  2. Read shared MN against a 2 MN heal.
  3. Read cooldowns, especially Counter Heal and anything Meteor just locked.
  4. Read Formation HP on Kannagi and Aries Knight without inventing buttons for them.
  5. Open Level Up only with a planned spend; pair that click with party building.
  6. If breakdown or alchemy is present, treat it as experimental and log it. If it is absent, do not hunt a hidden cauldron.
  7. Return to the route only when the next labeled event is a fight you can pay for.

A gamepad is recommended; keyboard-only play is supported. Confirm and Back habits are on the controls guide. Windows 11 minimums are on system requirements. Steam Next Fest from 19 October 2026 is a second window on the same first-area demo, not a rest-screen patch date. Calendar context is on demo launch notes.

Think of the rest screen as a picnic stop with a question mark in the corner. The stop is confirmed. The question mark is skill breakdown and alchemy. Fill HP, MN, and cooldown knowledge first. Leave the cauldron empty until Lapismine publishes a list. A first-area wipe still deletes the kit; a TBA product still will not inherit this save. Sit down to prepare for battle, then stand up. That is the whole official rest pitch, and it is enough.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for demo runs, ReAct combat, and party building.

What did Lapismine actually say about the rest screen?

The 28 February 2026 X clip presents a pause to prepare for battle. Skill breakdown and alchemy were described as things that appear to be possible. There is no official recipe list. Route context is on mapless exploration.

Should I rest after Unlimited Meteor?

Usually yes. Meteor costs 2 MN, then sets all skills on cooldown. The rest screen is battle prep for a board that just went dark. Combat math is in the ReAct combat guide.

Do rest-screen crafts carry into the full game?

No save from the limited demo transfers into the product version, which is still to be announced. Play rest as a first-area habit. Demo rules are on the limited demo guide.

Is alchemy a confirmed crafting loop?

No. The developer used tentative wording. Do not invent materials or outputs. Spend Star Shards with party building and the Level Up guide instead of a fan brew.

Can a second player use the rest screen with me?

No. Steam lists Dungeon Picnic as single-player only. Four heroines share one MN pool under one player. The demo party is still Astrologia, Apothecary, Kannagi, and Aries Knight.
