Early Character Ranking

This page is an early, demo-based character ranking for Dungeon Picnic. It is not a final 1.0 list. Lapismine’s full game is still to be announced. The limited-time demo that started on 6 September 2026 lets you take four heroines through the first area. Demo saves do not transfer. Rankings that ignore those limits are marketing, not evidence.

Party size is four. The game is single-player. The party shares one Mana (MN) pool. ReAct extra turns come from Breaks. Enemies ReAct too. Crits rise on broken targets. Cooldowns gate the big buttons. Read this page next to the early skill ranking, the tier list hub, and the ReAct combat guide.

How to read the bands

S means the published kit creates extra turns or refunds cooldowns in a way the rest of the demo four can spend. A means the kit solves a shared-Mana problem or holds the front line without needing invented skills. B means the identity is public but the kit is not, so the rank is a placeholder. Shown later means development posts, not a first-area starter.

Star Shards buy level-ups. Aether is the run currency. Mapless events ask you to bet resources. A character who looks average in fight one can spike after a Shard spend. That is another reason these labels stay stamped as speculation.

Provisional demo-four ranking

BandCharacterWhy this is still speculation
SAstrologiaBreak cooldown refund plus Unlimited Meteor payoff
AApothecaryShared Mana wants a dedicated healer/poison hybrid
AKannagiFlexible frontliner; fox shrine maiden with a purification wooden sword
BAries KnightMaid knight; kit not fully public, so mid until numbers exist

S — Astrologia (enabler, not a solo carry)

Astrologia is the early S-tier because she enables the loop, not because a comet screenshot looks loud. Public kit notes include Hellfire Comet, Blizzard Comet, Binary Star, Unlimited Meteor (2 MN, CD12, sets all cooldowns / spends ready skills), Lunar Eclipse, and Stellar Exploit. Her passive drops cooldown on Break.

That passive is the ranking hinge. If you Break often, she recycles tools instead of sitting on CD12. Unlimited Meteor then dumps the board as a payoff. If you never Break, she is an expensive meteor with a dead party. Build her as the character who creates extra turns, then let the other three spend them. Details on the dump itself sit on the skill ranking. Combat timing sits on the combat guide.

Do not spend every Star Shard on raw comet power if the Break refund is what actually wins fights. The limited demo is a first-area test of that idea, not proof that she stays S when later enemies resist her elements.

A — Apothecary (shared-Mana specialist)

Shared MN punishes four people pressing high-cost buttons. Apothecary sits high because the published kit is a healer/poison hybrid: Counter Heal (2 MN, CD6, all allies heal 50% of Heal.ELM), Heal All, and Poison Injection.

Counter Heal is tempo. It is cheap enough to keep the pool breathing while still touching the whole party. Heal All is the dedicated top-up when you are already behind. Poison Injection is chip: it asks the rest of the party to finish a target you have already taxed. None of those lines invent extra potions or unnamed mixes. If later patches add more brew skills, this rank can move. Until then, she is the reason a Break-heavy Astrologia party does not brick itself on empty MN.

A — Kannagi (flexible frontliner)

Kannagi is a fox shrine maiden who fights with a purification wooden sword. That is the public identity. This page does not invent skill names for her. The A-band placement is about role: a frontliner who can stand in the first area while Astrologia sets Breaks and Apothecary keeps the pool alive.

Flexible here means you can slot her without needing a fifth published nuke. If her unpublished skills turn out to be pure flavor with no Break help, she can drop. If they add cleanse or extra-turn tools, she can rise. Until Lapismine shows the kit, treat A as role value, not a hidden combo sheet. Pair her with notes on the character roster rather than with fan-made skill lists.

B — Aries Knight (incomplete data)

Aries Knight is a maid knight. The kit is not fully public. Incomplete data does not get an S out of courtesy. She sits mid until skills, MN costs, and cooldowns exist in writing. Players who slot her because the design looks sharp should still plan Breaks through Astrologia and recovery through Apothecary.

When the kit is posted, re-read this page. A tanky maid knight who also Breaks would jump. A purely cosmetic kit would not. The honest rank today is B for missing evidence, not for a judged weakness.

Shown later: Harvester and Samurai

These two appear in development posts. They are not in the demo four. Do not force them into a first-area starter screenshot.

Harvester has a high ceiling: HP drain, spending ally HP, and Mercy Scythe as an execute. The same kit is risky. If she arrives after this demo, every ranking that stuffed her into S for the first area is wrong on eligibility, not only on power.

Samurai has been shown with the First Star Fragment act-first artifact and a SPD 135 line. She looks strong if that artifact is a typical find rather than a staged clip, and if 135 is a representative speed, not a buffed showcase. Act-first matters in a ReAct game because winning the opening can be the Break that denies an enemy extra turn. That is a conditional A-or-higher, not a demo fact.

Party of four, not a solo ladder

Dungeon Picnic asks you to pick four heroines and treat the party as one machine. An S-tier Astrologia with three empty-MN spenders will lose to a slightly worse comet plan that still Breaks on time. Use the demo guide to see what the first area actually contains, then spend Star Shards on the character who creates turns. Wishlist the TBA product build on the wishlist tracker. Confirm names against the roster and official URLs on the links hub.

Steam Next Fest from 19 October 2026 will exhibit the demo. After that window, check whether Apothecary still feels mandatory or whether a later healer dethrones her. Do not treat a fest play session as a full-game ladder. Ship dates stay on the updates hub, the demo launch recap, and the development timeline.

Aries Knight’s unpublished kit is the largest hole on this page. Until Lapismine shows her skills, she stays in the middle of a speculative demo list, and no amount of maid-knight presentation will move her above characters whose MN costs and Break tools are already public.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for demo runs, ReAct combat, and party building.

Is Astrologia locked as S-tier for the full game?

No. She is an early S-tier enabler in the limited demo because Break refunds cooldown and Unlimited Meteor pays off. Later enemies, later kits, and the TBA product build can move her. See the skill ranking.

Why is Apothecary ranked above Aries Knight?

Apothecary has a published healer/poison kit that protects shared Mana. Aries Knight is a maid knight whose kit is not fully public, so she sits mid until data exists. Compare both on the roster.

Can I play Harvester or Samurai in the limited demo?

The demo four are Astrologia, Apothecary, Kannagi, and Aries Knight. Harvester and Samurai have been shown in development posts. This ranking keeps them in a separate band so they are not treated as first-area starters. Confirm the slice in the demo guide.

Did you invent Kannagi skills to justify A-tier?

No. Kannagi is ranked as a flexible frontliner from her public identity: fox shrine maiden, purification wooden sword. No extra skill names are listed for her or for Aries Knight.

How should I spend Star Shards on this list?

Bias Shards toward the character who creates Breaks and extra turns, then toward the healer who keeps shared MN alive. Raw damage without ReAct is a weaker spend in this combat model. Timing is covered in the combat guide.
